Thanks for the warm welcome. From the background in your profile picture and your address, I'm assuming you know Russ! My wife and I have visited Playa Del Carmen before, but only on day trips. We love it. That's why we're spending the last week of March in town. As mentioned to Russ, through the social club, we're hoping to discover the places in PDC with real character - the spots you don't necessarily read about in the tourist brochures! Any recommendations would be appreciated.

We just booked our flights for arrival to Cancun on the 18th of February. We do need a room for 3 nights in Playa Del Carmen, preferably on the beach or close to it. We had discussed some places previous. If you could assist us so that we can firm up our reservations that would be great. We prefer smaller places with less then 50 rooms. We would like something quaint, and affordable in walking distance to everything. Last time we stayed at the Aventura Mexicana, and walked down to Coco Maya Beach Club and bar. The bartender was still wearing the pair of tennis shoes I had given him the year before. ( My feet hurt & I was tired of carrying them) The Playa Maya looks like it might be for us. Thanks, Bruce

We are staying at Sandos Caracol the one that is a 10 min drive to Playa Del Carmen. We had upgraded to the Select Club and were wondering if we should stay in the buildings in the back or try to get one of the ones up front by the main pool and beach. There are so many reviews of this resort that are hot or cold and Im just so excited to go, but Im afraid we would make a mistake staying so far back. Do you know anything about this resort? We are going to be there from 3-5 to 3-12. Any help or info you have would be great. Its myself, my husband and our 10 yr old daughter going. Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you. Keeley
