Thanks Russ, This helps but I heard the Mexican gov't would be allowing card games in 2010 and casinos were being built now in Playa del Carmen which would have card games. I deal cards so if you do here anymore about this I would REALLY appreciat...

If you are in Playa, there are a number of backbacker hostels/hotels west of Ave 15. Saraha, Mom's, Playa del Karma (we can help you book PDK). All 3 of these are on Playadelcarmen.com but the only one we currently book is Playa Del Karma.
If you are in Tulum, Weary Traveler in town is a reasanably clean hostel. We don't do a lot of back packer type bookings sorry I can't be more help.
