Hello, I'm Brad and coming down this winter to playa. wanting to meet new people and create friends. I'm a good dancer and would like to spend some time with people who like to dance. How often are you in playa?
Hi GG, My name is Annie and I just returned from both Playa and Tulum. Both spots are great although different. Tulum is remote, peaceful, beautiful beach, great swimming and suntanning, great to walk the beach...it is so quiet. You'll meet some great people that have such a nice laid back way about them.
Playa is awesome too.....I recommend staying downtown in one of the small beachfront boutique hotels or staying right on 5th Avenue which is not at all like a city's 5th Avenue, it is a special 5th Avenue....a real local experience. Leave me a message if I can help you find a great place to stay. Annie
Tulum is an interesting palce.... but first and foremost it is an 'experience'.
That said a couple other facts are the Tulum beach has no electricity, most water is pumped from cenote wells and is not drinkable, all drinking water is bottled.
Now starting from there and your tent, you can plan your trip to Tulum.
To get out of your tent and into a cabana (shared bath) you start at $50 (we can't help you with this kind of property or the tent). Depending on your budget and requirement for ammenities, here are a couple of suggestions. Some have no or very little electricity because they rely on solar and wind, some have air and 110 power because they run their own generators.
Jody or Annie have both stayed there in the last 6 weeks and I am sure can have a full conversaton with you to find you somethig suitable. Are you mixing the trip with a few days in Playa Del Carmen........ lots of folks do (-:
If an all inclusives in the Tulum area is more your style there are plenty to choose from and they have every ammenidity you can image and then some (-:
We built Playa Social Club so people could see town as we see it (-: Some of us have been going down longer than we care to admit while others like Michael our videograhper is a new comer but leaves Sunday for his 7th trip this year.
Playa is a town with its own flavor. As you get clsoe to your travel, if you have questions or needs..... give a yell. Also, take great pictures so you can upload a few for us (-:

Becky,
Sned me a private message with your email. The Director General at Winpot in Playa is a friend. He is from San Diego, about 35.... nice guy. Will be glad to send an intro email for you.
Thanks Russ, This helps but I heard the Mexican gov't would be allowing card games in 2010 and casinos were being built now in Playa del Carmen which would have card games. I deal cards so if you do here anymore about this I would REALLY appreciat...
