yes i am leaving this friday to stay at the royal hacienda for a week. We are searching for best rates on everything right now. Car, trips and activities. I like to stay active, love to snorkle. I like doing unique things and visiting local areas that arent to touristy..i love listening to music but not necessarily a clubber. sitting on the beach with some local music and drinks is right up my alley, as would be visiting little villages and experiencing some local fare in authentic settings. so any advice on how to find the lowest priced activities, tours, excursions etc would be appreciated. Where are you guys staying? There are not many places you can park in Playa. As far as driving down there, NP :) I have driven down there a couple of times, We usually get up early pick up the car and start heading towards Tulum, we like to grab breakfast down in Paamul (Highly recommended for either breakfast or a late afternoon snack adn acold beer). Puerto Aventuras is a little further down the road and you have all sorts of things to do, Dolphin Discovery is there, swim with the manatees, deep sea fishing, cafes, and of course SHOPPING! Heading a little farther south you come to Akumal and the Yalku Lagoon is there snorkeling and diving are HUGE there. Also there is a Great Bakery down that way,,,,name skips me at the moment.........Between Akumal and Tulum there are a couple of touristy places as well and dirt roads that lead to cenotes or places like Solimon Bay....
Then you have Tulum where there is 1 light in town and if you take a left there, down the access road to the beach road, take a right and head north on the beach road till the end and you come to the back way into the Tulum Ruins. head back south on the beach road and past the turn to the access road and about 7 kilometers you will come to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, Tulum has lots to offer bike tours, kayaking trips, bone fishing, kiteboarding, great restaurants, and some shopping. .....Whoops forgot about Coba, if you turn left at the light in Tulum it will take you to the Coba Ruins (about 20 min inland) Great place to pack a picnic and wonder around.
SOrry I hope this isn't information overload, but as you can see there is SOOOOOO Much to do down there that is off the beaten path.

Hey Carolyn;
Welcome to the Social Club!
We started this site to get people who have never been there before excited about Playa and what it has to offer. Also for people who have been there and LOVED it, to post stories, comments, suggestions, pictures and videos to share.
When are you heading down that way? Where are you staying?
Again Welcome Aboard!
