I'm planning of booking a stay in July '09. I'll ride the ADO bus to Playa, but almost all of the return flights leave Cancun at either 7a, 8a, or 9a (continental). Will I have to take a taxi to get there that early? And how early before my flight...

Welcome to the social club. We started this site for fun but it has taken on a life of its own. Stay in touch, lots of folks like yourself as well as a number of folks that have done what your thinking about doing.
I went the first time in 1992, loved the place. We have owned business there, done the travel compnay thing which we finds is a good balance between living there and living here. I go to Playa now about 6 or 8 times a year for a total of about 3 months there annually.
Talk to the folks in the forum..... Marc Funari would be a good guiy to touch base with. He is in the middle of the same process

**Food is not an issue.... plenty of it in all price ranges. Loosen your belt and explore
I'm also interested in moving and working there. I am single, would sell my house and move if I could work and get by. Not sure how that works as far as living there.
** Would I need to get a VISA? - to work you need and FM#. This can be sponsored by a Mexican company or if you are an investor you can apply for one.
Can I have a dual citizenship?
** Yes you can have dual citizenship. THere is a process for Mexican citizenship just like there is one here in the US. It takes 5 years approx.
What jobs are available.
** With the drama reporting of the last 6 months work is hard to come by. THe area is experiencing a real down draft from the econmey, problems on the border and the flu. Best guess for employment.... wait a year or go down to be an investor.
I'm single, 50 yrs. old, in great health. I was thinking maybe a bartender, or a representative for a travel agency or for a resort,

- Hi Russ! El Estudiante is the smallest of our local language schools and the one I know the least about. I have attended Solexico and Playalingua and have heard many good reports about Berlitz and International House. By my experience, Solexico is the most professional and comprehensive program but you have to make a real time commitment to it. El Estudiante may be more flexible with you. Check them all out if you have time! Good luck and have fun on your trip!

- Hi Russ. Wow I am jelouse... 3 or 4 weeks in playa sounds like something i really really need to do sometimes soon !!! There are SO many great little hotels in town and so many offering wonderful prices. What do you really enjoy? Maybe i can suggest a few from my own epxerience?
