Hi, there are rooms that have a ocean view, the food at the buffet was great lots of selection and it was not that busy, try the al la carte restaurants when you are there, they are pretty good too, and don't forget that you have access to the Wyndham Maya which is the same hotel chain, and it is just 5 minutes away and that hotel is huge, lots of adult activities to do and there is lots of things for kids to do also, they have a beach bar that also has food so you don't have to go into the hotel to eat, we would stay there again no problem, great beach, but you have to get up early to get a chair that is the only beef we had with this hotel, there is not alot of chairs on the beach so it is a mad rush in the morning to grab a chair, but we just sat in the sand so it was not a big deal.
Sure, my pleasure... what are your dates in Sept?? I will do some looking and will send you suggestions and recommendations. I think i have a couple of ideas for what you would enjoy and will be in your price range too (-: We are in the USA (New Jersey to be exact) but work very very closely with many hotels and resorts in the region. Many of the managers and owners are personal firends which helps in getting good treatment for our friends and clients. We are down in Playa very often though. Give me a call if you want to chat in person 732-704-1890
I personaly really love the small hotels in town to be honest.. then you dont have to be stuck eating in the same place all the time, Maybe a unit with a little kitchenette would be great for you so you can snack "at home" during the day and then go out for lunch and / or at night? just a thought... (-:
It really depends on the type of experience you want. Valentine is Adults only. The guests i sent there prebooked different activities (like Mayan Zip line etc) so that it got them out of the resort and see other places.
Being in Playa at a family resort full of kids is going to be very different for you. The Vivas are OK but I am not totaly sure you would feel as comfortable there or that the quality is going to be as great as it could.
Depending on what your price range is there are lots of differnet possiblities. So if you dont mind sharing that info with me (you can email me directly to loks@worldlinks.com if you feel more comfortable) I will be glad to offer additional properties that i think would be great both in town and in Playacar. (-:
Hi Mare;
Yes the Valentin will be happy to cater to your needs. I have had good reviews from past clients who love it and go back, they love that they have 7 restaurants to choose from and none require reservations.
I had visited this property about a year ago and it reminded me of an old Spanish manor home, with a beautiful reflecting pool as you arrive to the reception area. Old world meets new world :)
I hope this helps you in your decision. Let me know if you have any other question.
Kris
Hi Mare, Welcome to the Playa Social Club. I saw your concern regarding Valentine being Gay Friendly, which it is. At least from my previous client experience they were well received and there were no display of animosity.
It's also an adult only property so you would not have to deal with kids everywhere.
When are you traveling? Did you make your reservations yet? If not, will be glad to get you organized with a nice room (-:
Let me know, and again, great to have you with us (-:
Playa in general is very gay friendly. In town there are a number of small hotels that cater to gay couples. As for the larger / all inclusives. Liliane here in the forum might be a better person to ask. She knows the large resorts well. I will let her know you have a post up on my page she might be able to help with. I don't do the big hotels, like being in town (-:
Hi Mare;
WELCOME to the Social Club!
We started this site to get people who have never been there before excited about Playa and people who have been there and LOVED it, to post stories, comments, suggestions, pictures and videos to share.
When are you heading down there? Where are you staying?
Again Welcome!
Kris
