- Been ALL over the country of Mexico and never been to Playa. Looking to spend a "QUIET" yet fun time in another area of Mexico I haven't been for my upcoming 15 yr. anniversary in December. Any points, etc. would be appreciated. So far, looking at Porta Real to stay at... We like the "all inclusive" due to we usually don't venture out except for good drinks and food. NEVER did AI in PV, ACA, Cancun. OUR FIRST TIME.... IS is worth it??? Especially if you just want to hang out, drink and CELEBRATE??????????

I'm from Houston too.. and there is no danger that i know of? unless of course you go to the places where you would find yourself in danger, that is like going to 5th ward or 3rd ward in Houston. its ok to come down, I drove down here with my 10 y...

We started this site to get people who have never been there before excited about Playa and what it has to offer. Also for people who have been there and LOVED it or get to LIVE it, to post stories, comments, suggestions, pictures and videos to share.
The Gran Porto Real is in a great location! You might want to check out the ROYAL in Playa del Carmen , it is a adult only resort, it is the sister hotel to the Gran Porto Real and is right across the street.
There are also a lot of wonderful, small boutique hotels that are down there, this way you can go and enjoy the people, restaurants, as well as the culture that is Playa. I gonedown there several times and would be happy to help you find the right spot for your annivesary
