HEY GUYS! WENT TO PLAYA IN APRIL AND GOING BACK AUG 25TH. STAYED AT THE SHANGRI-LA CARIBE. JUST OUT OF TOWN BUT CLOSE ENOUGH TO WALK AND CAB BACK IF YOU GET TIRED. FERRY IS A EASY THING. FEW MINUTES BY CAB FROM HOTEL. COZUMEL'S A SHORT RIDE (30 MI...
You cant beat the Barracuda for a place to stay, right on the ocean, next to Margaritaville and across the street from the Mega store, me and my wife are planning our holiday for Feb 2010 and the Barracuda is on the top of the list.
We have boiled down our hotel choices to the Alhamba with an ocean view balconey or Playa palms. We noticed that the prices drop off in september though. We could save $120 on a very nice room at playa palms by delaying our trip two weeks to the f...
I wish we could answer your questions. We have always stayed in Playa, and really love it. But we are not divers though. When booking the hotel in Playa, check about the beach erosion, rocks. Some places were getting hit very hard by erosion. We a...
My wife and I have been trying to plan a trip to Cozumel(August 21-24th) for a few weeks now but we were at odds over the hotels. I wanted to stay in town and eat the real mexican food and see some culture but she wanted to stay on the South side ...
Hi Eric, Did you get all your questions answered and hotel stay taken care of for August? Just wanted to make sure you were all set and if not see if I could help out?
Whoops I didn't see the note about the ferry......If you fly into Cozumel, you will need to take a taxi to the ferry terminal and it is $12 per person each way to Playa. It is about a 45 min ferry ride depending on weather.
You are better off flying into Cancun and taking a shuuttle van it shoudl take abotu 45 minutes - 1 hour or so depending on how many stops they make at other hotels.
LOL ok it's my turn to be long with post....
Kris
Hey Eric;
just read your post. some answers to your questions. YES Playa Palms is a great hotel, their staff is wonderful and can't do enough for you. Let me know if yo need help booking the hotel, they are one of our favorites. You are also down the streat from the famous BLUE PARROT beach/night club as well as COCOMAYA. Weekends sometime get a little noisey (FYI)
There are about 3 or 4 dive shops with in a block or so of the hotel, you can snorkel off the beach or you can arrange snorkel trips as well.
Can I tell you about the food..........WOW ........where should I begin?
You have everything from the Taco cart, to slices of Pizza (really good pizza), to seafood, to Asian, to Yucatan Cuisine, there is something for everyone on Playa. YEs if you need the American fix Burger King, Starbucks, Dairy Queen are all down on 5th Ave.
I will personally send you the names of a couple of the favorite places to eat.
Hope this is a point in the right direction
Kris
