Do yourself a favour a pay for a cab, about $90 dollars US, if you want to get to town fast and be on the beach within 1 hour that is the way to go, and you can stop on the way and pick up some cervezas on the way to your hotel, small price to pay...

I have a lot of tips and recommednations for restaurants, fishing, sights, and more on my web site if you want to take a look at that. http://www.portoplayaplayadelcarmen.com
You will love playa! We stay in condo/hotel right in town off the beach. There are lots of sales and discounts being offered now, so it's a great time to make a reservation.

Hi Dave,
I saw your posting about the Viva Azteca, I am thinking of staying there, and I wanted to know if you could share some information about the hotel with me. Were there rooms with ocean views (in the websites I'm trying to book doesn't specify? What about the food? was there always plenty at the buffets? how long would it take to get rspv's for the restaurants? If you wanted to lay on the beach and rest during the day, how noisy is it? do the hotel has a lot of noisy activities near the beach? and lastly... I know the hotel advertises as family oriented, but did you noticed adult groups as well? or was it just families? I would really appreciate any info you could share.

Hola Dave,

The cab ride from airport to playa runs around $25/ person. You can catch the bus for around $9/ person and then the ride from bus station to your hotel in Playacar would be no more than $5. Either way is perfectly safe. Get ready to pound some shots of tequila!!!

Hi Dave,

You're gonna love Playa. My wife and I will be down from Feb 3rd to 17th. We get down there about once a month and are actually moving to Playa. Looks like we'll be in Playa at the same time. We'll have to get some margaritas!!! Let me know if you have any questions about Playa. It truly is Paradise! Marc

Hi Dave,
My name is Annie and welcome to our Playa Social Club. The Wyndham Viva Azteca is a great all inclusive located in Playacar which is the all inclusive resort area that is just south of downtown Playa and still walking distance to Playa. It is really the best place to be bacause you enjoy all of the features of an all inclusive and can still walk into Playa for all that this great little town has to offer. You will not have any trouble hooking up with an outfit to take you fishing, just go downtown Playa and drop into a few places offering deep sea fishing excursions. You'll know when you find the right one for you. Regarding Cozumel I would recommend taking a taxi to Chankanaab Park which is a great little beach club to snorkel for the day and just enjoy fun in the sun. Downtown Cozumel is really all about shopping because many cruise ships stop there for the day so you really want to get out of downtown til the end of your day....many places to stop for a fun drink while waiting for the ferry back to Playa. Don't buy a round trip ticket to Cozumel while in Playa because there are actually two companies and once that you are in Cozumel the opposite company may have the better timing for you. We made that mistake so we learned the hard way. Either way it cost the same buying the ticket on either end. Have a great trip. I am going to invite you to be my Playa buddy, Annie from Boston

The hotel we are staying at is the Viva Wyndham Aztecta, my wife and I, and my brother are traveling together, looking forward to getting there and having some fun and sun. We are planning to go to Cozumel for the day and my brother wants to go fishing so if you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Town is a lot of fun and if you are staying up or down the coast at one of the AI's, you need to be sure to get to town at least for a evening and dinner (-:
