The Playa Del Carmen Social Club

South of Cancun, north of Tulum in the heart of the Riviera Maya

I saw a small beach right below the ruins with people sunbathing there. My dream this year is to tan every day on that secluded beach, and dance to funk every night at the parrot. Not sure where Id stay yet. But I am wondering how I access that beach? Do I have to go thru and pay the access fee to the ruins everyday? Im assuming its a public beach. any info appreciated.

HI Tim;
Actually the ruins are in Tulum and yes you do have to pay to get into the park, once you are in you and hundreds of your closest tourist are in that one area of the beach to go swimming. You would be about 50 minutes from Playa. If you want to be a little more secluded I suggest you head up towards Xcalacoco Beach Le Reve, Petit Lafitte are a couple of hotels up 10 minutes north of Playa. When are you headed down there?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Chris. Can I get onto the beach perhaps by walking along the water? Arent all beaches public? I Im not necessarily looking for seclusion as I simply like the beach there itself. Could one walk the water in from the south end? I havent chosen a date to come yet. Any festivals during february? Budget nice places to stay? I probably would stay in or near playa, pref on the beach. thanks

HI Tim;
Hoep you had a good weekend. You are correct all the beaches are public down there. Carnival is happening between Feb 15 - Feb 22 or there about. I think the Nroth end of town has a little better beach.....Marmitas Beach, if you head up that way then you can stay at Las Palapas or Shangri- la Caribe

Tim, We visited the ruins at Tulum one day and went to that beach, but we kept hearing about all the beach to the left as you look out over the water from the ruins. We took a collectivo into Tulum, about 1 or 2 lights past the one that you turn at to go to the ruins. From there, take a taxi to Club Paradisio(sp?) and the public beach. It is very expansive and there was hardly anyone there when we went. You can walk for about a mile on the beach and see very few people. Next trip, I want to explore the other areas where all the cabanas are located as it seems to be very beautiful beach area also. For any naturists or part-timers, I think some of these areas are CO. Hope this helps someone alittle. Rick
