For many years there was a bull fight ring close to Playa. That was closed (if memory serves me) around 1999 and I am not aware of a bull ring now anywhere in the Yucatan.......
I've done a little research and bullfighting runs from mid december thru april. It is located in cancun and cost is $38 per person. The time and date is 3 p.m. every wednesday.

thanks everyone I have been to the fights before on the other side of mexico but the rest of our group have not. and we are from a farming and ranching back ground in canada so i think our group would like to attend. hopefully we get there. thanks again.
I saw a bullfight in cancun many years ago... and while I'm an avid outdoor enthusiast and former hunter, I have to admit it was one of the most brutal things I had/have ever seen. While I understand and appreciate tradition, heritage and everything else... it is not for the faint of heart. It's certainly thrilling and exiting, but you will see the bulls killed ( unless things have changed). Many of those who were with me, were visably shaken after the 1st fight.
Went to the Bullfights when we were in Puerto Vallarta a few years ago. If you are not ready for some bloody gore I wouold think twice. I'm no prude, stayed through 4 Bullfights but the Miss left after the 2nd fight as well a most of the other female tourists. Not like what you may have see on TV.
It was recommended that we not take our kids to the bullfights...they really do kill the bull! Being from Texas, we like rodeos and thought it might be fun, but the locals at our resort changed our minds!
It's a bullfight. This is what happens. Either the matador dies or the bulls die. Bulls are always killed in bullfights. I recommend seeing one. Very fun and entertaining, as long as you're not a member of PETA.
Im not a PETA fanatic, GREENPEACE freak or something like that but...i really find bulls, rooster or pitbull fights "SO LAST CENTURY" ... so out!
So, my advice for you, if u want to experience dead animals in a mexican tradition around here... try some of the most amazing dishes in the yucatan peninsula.... specially pork and turkey. yucatecan cuisine is a MUST! you would love it!
Once upon a time the Yucatecan peninsula was considered to be too far away and too difficult to reach from the rest of Mexico. Mountainous terrain and very poor roads kept the peninsula isolated. Having ports with commercial and cultural contacts with Europe (especially France), New Orleans, and Cuba, the Yucatecans were easily influenced by many aspects of these countries, such as dress, architecture and cooking, which explains why there is a lot of European flair in its cuisine.
I recomend you some spectacular dishes:
Poc-chuc: charbroiled slices of pork with onions, marinated in a tasty sour orange sauce.
Pescado Tikinxic: fish marinated in achiote sauce, wrapped in banana leaves and charbroiled, served with a delicious sauce made of tomato and Habanero pepper.
Longaniza Asada :This spicy sausage is from the east of the state and is barbecued to make the mounth wather. It is served with bitter oranges to complement its delicious taste.
Chilmole: turkey in a dark spicy sauce.
Pollo Pibil: Chicken marinated in achiote (annatto), sour orange juice, peppercorns garlic, cumin, salt, and then wrapped in banana leaves and baked. This dish can also be made with pork (Cochinita Pibil). A dish you should definitely try for lunch or dinner. Not spicy.
Dzik: lime-marinated shredded beef. originally was deer
but...hey... what do i know bout your hungry of blood and violence.... so if u still want to see bullfight action..here:
