The Playa Del Carmen Social Club

South of Cancun, north of Tulum in the heart of the Riviera Maya

Has anyone ever stayed at either of these locations? I am going for a wedding, and most of the guests are staying at the Tucan. I found a better rate at the Quetzal, which I understand connects to the Tucan.

Also if you can let me know where these two hotels are relative to the rest of the city, I would be most appreciative. I haven't booked the trip yet, but I am looking to leave Dallas on May 15th and return May 20th. If you can point me to a site or agency that would offer the best price, I would definitely be grateful.

Sorry for stacking the questions, but this is my first trip to Playa del Carmen. I am really looking forward to it!

I've stayed at the Tucan and eaten at the Quetzal while staying there. You just walk from one to the other - they are both 5 star and you can't go wrong w/either one - they are connected by beautiful breeze-ways, and quite frankly, I couldn't hardly tell when I'd gone from one to the other. Both properties are massive. When you stay at one of them, you can use the facilities at both of them. If you are finding a cheaper rate at Quetzal, jump on it!

I'm in Dallas as well, and usually book via www.applevacations.com or http://www.horizonsunlimitedtravel.com simply becuase I've found both to have cheaper rates and excellent service.

Location wise - these properties are in between Cancun and Playa del Carmen - about a 35 minute bus ride south from the airport. Usually, you book all-inclusive at this resort and it includes your transport from the airport. You can pay extra for incursions into Cancun or down to Playa, but quite frankly, you won't need to leave this resort. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, the spa is wonderful, and the beach here is quite beautiful. You can SCUBA, snorkel, parasail - the whole bit - from this resort - not to mention the beautiful pools and swim up bars. And if you want to go down to Playa, you can easily take a bus.

I've gone down to this area about 6 times now, and of all the resorts I've stayed at, this one is my favorite! You will have a wonderful time! Enjoy!
