There is currently 1 casino in Playa, Winpot. Casino, small sports book, bingo. Mexicans are not allowed to use 'cards' so all games are played electronicly but you do play against others and the house as if they were dealing. Texas Hold'em is popular at Winpot
Winpot is about 280 gaming machines in addition to the sports book & bingo. THere is a seperate gaming room for smokers, main floor is non-smoking.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks Russ, This helps but I heard the Mexican gov't would be allowing card games in 2010 and casinos were being built now in Playa del Carmen which would have card games. I deal cards so if you do here anymore about this I would REALLY appreciate knowing about it. Thanks for response-Becky

Sned me a private message with your email. The Director General at Winpot in Playa is a friend. He is from San Diego, about 35.... nice guy. Will be glad to send an intro email for you.
yes, there are casinos in playa. there is one in the amercian mall. But, its not like the casinos in canada and us. But, they are here.
Thanks, do es it/they have card games or just machines? Becky
last time i was there was months ago. No card games as of yet.
I am in PDC now and had asked someone today about a casino and the told me that there are no casinos as they are illegal here. Can anyone confirm or densy this as of today?
Winpot is alive and well. Find a cab :) Jaime is the manager if you tell him 'Russ from" send you I am sure he will buy you a drink :)
Casinos are legal. They do not use cards but do have electronicly deal games to avoid fixing.
Is there a cover charge at winpot, dress code and can u use ids? Thanks

Why go sit in a slot joint when you have so much to do  in Playa?  Save the cash and spend it in one of the great restaurants in town.  From greasy little Tauqarias to High End dining.  You go home with a smile and a full tummy.

Save Vegas for the glitz of gambling.  It truly is the meca of a great gambling head rush.

Save Playa for 'something different'.

Just sayin'.

Will be back in the area for a few days in March after an absence of a few years. We had a great dinner one night at a restaurant on 5th-near the south end. It was on the second floor and as you walked upstairs you were greeted by many large burning candles which had been transformed into intricate sculptures by the ocean breezes. Does anyone know if the place still exists and if the food is still good? Can't remember the name of the place. Thanks for any help you can give.See More
