Has anyone taken the ADO bus from the airport to Playa? Trying to save a few bucks on transfers , and heard this is about 8.00 per person. We are staying at the Illusion hotel.
Hi. The bus is 90 pesos. It goes right from the airport to bus station on 5th avenue. The bus station is only a couple blocks from Illusion, so you can walk. The buses are nice and safe. Reccommend it!!! when you coming down?
HI Marc,
Thanks for the info ! I think we will definately do it that way. Transfers for 4 people are 80-120. US for 4 people. We are coming down April 10th for the Easter week.
Have a good trip. We're down here now for a few weeks, weather is great as usual. The Illusion is a great little hotel on 8th, have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're gonna have a great time. The bus ride is about 40 to 50 minutes. It makes one stop on the way at a small depot right on highway 307, but that is it. The bus station is located right at the south end of 5th avenue in Playa. The bus is great, clean, A/C, and nice. I really don't understand why more people don't use it.
Our first visit in January, we paid $110 for RT transfers. After taking the ADO for a ride back from Cancun during our stay, I realized how easy is is for future reference. Their buses are wonderful, a very relaxing ride.
Sorry for the newbie question ... but is there a sign in the airport that says ADO shuttle or do you walk outside and then go to the right by Coconut bar near terminal 2 to buy your ticket? Thanks a lot in advance!
HI Chris,
As you are walking towards the doors to exit the airport, you will see the ADO bus ticket booth on your left hand side. Then the bus is located on the right by the Coconut bar outside.
Yes. Taking the bus from the airport to Playa is super easy and economical. You will only be about a 5 minute walk from your hotel but a taxi will be easy to find should you have a lot of luggage to haul.

Thanks Russ, This helps but I heard the Mexican gov't would be allowing card games in 2010 and casinos were being built now in Playa del Carmen which would have card games. I deal cards so if you do here anymore about this I would REALLY appreciat...
