Hey Elizabeth;
Just wanted to let you know I am headed down to Playa and will stop in at Cocos Cabanas and check them out for you. I did find out they are located on Playa Xcalacoco. I will report after I see them.

Thanks. I have read some reviews I found on the net and they were all good; about 7 of them. From the sound of it, Cocos is not located within walking distance of Playa but I appreciate your checking into it. It may be bicycle distance at least. I will look forward to your reply. I am really excited about planning a trip to Playa.!
HI Elizabeth;
I did make it to Cocos Cabanas on Thursday afternoon after we arrived in Playa. It is a 15 minute taxi ride from town and it is NOT on the beach. You do have to walk 50 yards and you are at a great little beach club. We walked in and there was a very cute little Mexican lady that greeted us (bring your Spanish) the bungalow she showed us was VERY SIMPLE, celing fan, no AC, no phone, no TV. Some people tend to get lost on the way there since it is a dirt road . Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info and for making the jaunt. That answers my question. I really want to stay on the beach and in Playa. I don't care about air conditioning and would like to be able to hear the water at night. I guess the German couple who run the place were not on the property? I read a little about them on a travel site, but it did not mention anything about the proximity to Playa so I do appreciate the info.
hey so i was also wondering about the ADO bus from th air port.... how is it ? is it a long trip .. does it make many stops or just the one in playa... let me know. im going january 6th 2010. thanx alot
